Tiling

You’ll learn the practical skills and techniques of how to perform measurements and calculations, interpret plans, use different types of tile adhesives, how to prepare surfaces, waterproof wet areas and apply grout.  The course also covers the tools of the trade (power tools, tiles cutting tools, spirit levels, squares and plumb lines)

Module 1: Safety and Building Industry

Module 2: Select Materials, tools and equipment for specified tiling work

Module 3: Cut Tiles according to specification

Module 4: Prepare Surfaces for Tiling

Module 5: Mix Adhesive and Grout

Module 6: Tile Surfaces

What type of course is this?

This is a practical course and the modules will be done in a fully equipped workshop.

Price Includes: Lunch, Learning material, Facilitation, SETA Learner uploading, SETA Learner registration, Internal assessment, Internal moderation, Internal Certification, transport to and from Kempton Park Transnet station as well as Rhodesfield Gautrain Station

This is a full time course: 15 working days (3 Weeks)

Time: 09:00 – 16:00 Everyday

Admission Requirements

Plasterer, Bricklayer or relevant experience

Recognition of prior learning

If what you have learned at work, from other programs, courses, from life experience or training provided at work is relevant to this program, you may be entitled to gain subject credits or exemptions.  A RPL (Recognition of prior learning) process is available for recognition and assessment of your skills. Relevant credits will be passed.

 

Qualifications

On completion of this course the student will earn the following:

  • Registration on CETA National Learner Data Base
  • CETA statement of results for the following units
    • 261665 – Prepare Surfaces and apply tiles
