This course will set a strong foundation for a career in Bricklaying.

  • Module 1: Safety and Building Industry
  • Module 2: Read and Interpret building drawings
  • Module 3: Laying different brick bonds
  • Module 4: Build corners and angles in different brick bonds
  • Module 5: Foundations and Piers
  • Module 6: Build – in Doorframes and Windows
  • Module 7: Arch Building
  • Module 8: Small Buildings (Miscellaneous)
  • Module 9: Build with concrete blocks

This is a practical course and the modules will be done in a fully equipped workshop.

  • Time: 09:00 – 15:30 Everyday

If what you have learned at work, from other programs, courses, from life experience or training provided at work is relevant to this program, you may be entitled to gain subject credits or exemptions.  A RPL (Recognition of prior learning) process is available for recognition and assessment of your skills. Relevant credits will be passed.

On completion of this course the student will earn the following:

  • AITF Certificate of Completion and AITF Statement of Results
  • The course content is SAQA unit standard aligned
Registration on SETA National Learner Data Base and SETA statement of results only subject to certain terms & conditions;

  • 261663 – Build masonry superstructures using concrete hollow unit standards
  • 261659 – Build masonry superstructures using solid unit standards
  • 14662 – Set out, excavate, cast concrete strip foundations and build foundation walling
  • 259604 – Verify compliance to safety, health and environmental requirements in the workplace
  • 254220 – Provide primary emergency care/first aid as an advanced first responder
  • 14580 – Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • 14632 – Build decorative masonry elements
  • 261663 – Build masonry superstructures using concrete hollow unit standards
  • 261659 – Build masonry superstructures using solid unit standards
