This course focuses on teaching the student the basics needed to work with welding equipment. This course focuses on the ARC welding technique. ARC welding is a process that is used to join metal to metal by using electricity to create enough heat to melt metal, and the melted metals when cool result in a binding of the metals.

- 12238 – Draw and interpret simple engineering drawings
- 243055 – Prepare and secure work pieces for welding (includes the use of manipulators)
If you have an eye for detail and enjoy working with your hands, a career in plastering or painting could be just right for you. You will be taught how to prep surfaces, which tools to use correctly and how to paint with the best techniques.

The linings are for both walls and ceilings. The work involves making fixing plaster sheets and cornices and fixing them to timber and metal framing. Plasterers also manufacture and fix ornamental plasterwork.

- 262784 – Mount solar water heating system (Level 2)
This course focuses on solar geysers and heat pumps and the inspection of a successful installation. This is a 1 day theory and 4 day practical installations course. An additional 7 installations on site is necessary to complete this qualification. The 7 installations must be signed off by a qualified solar plumber with a “red seal”.

You’ll learn the practical skills and techniques of how to perform measurements and calculations, interpret plans, use different types of tile adhesives, how to prepare surfaces, waterproof wet areas and apply grout. The course also covers the tools of the trade (power tools, tiles cutting tools, spirit levels, squares and plumb lines).
