Completion (Trade Test):
A two-day practical exam under exam conditions, completing tasks aligned to Red Seal competencies.
In South Africa, the Red Seal qualification is the national artisan trade certificate (a Section 26D certificate) issued by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) once you’ve passed an external trade test moderated by the National Artisan Moderation Body (NAMB). It formally recognises your competence in a specific trade (e.g., electrician) at the appropriate NQF level, is valid nationwide, and replaced the old Section 13/28 certificates under the Manpower Training Act.
